Course Description: | Mechanical and physical properties of engineering materials (metals, ceramics, and polymers) are explained through their structures. Topics include strength and ductility, crystal structures and defects, phases and microstructure, heat treatment, manufacturing processes, and materials economics. Design applications including materials failure analysis projects and technical report writing. Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week. |
Requisite Courses: | Prerequisites: CHEM 1013 or Chem 1033 and ES 2013. Corequisite: ME 3030. |
