Explores the context of several American music genres including Blues, Jazz, Tango, Broadway, Caribbean styles, Country Tejano/Conjunto, Rock and Roll, Reggae and Hip Hop. Emphasis on understanding cross-cultural influences, interpreting musical commentary on gender, community, commercial and political trends in the larger historical development of music in the Americas.
