Course Description: | This course will survey the basic issues of substantive criminal law. Topics that may be covered include punishment, actus reus, mens rea, homicide, rape, causation, inchoate offenses, justification and excuse defenses, and accomplice liability. Course objectives include learning the basic principles of substantive criminal law, learning the basic tools and methods to analyze problems in substantive criminal law, and learning the policy issues and theory underpinning substantive criminal law. |
